Shortly before Barbara Blackburn's media blitz, an African-American typist named Ron Mingo would also make the rounds as one of the best typists in the world. Mingo, who was probably the greatest baby boomer typist of all time, didn't really get his due at the time because he never held an official Guinness record unlike Blackburn and he never released his own best-selling typing guide like his contemporary Cortez Peters, Jr. but he is one of the best-remembered typists of his era today because of his fairly prolific appearances on television, which included segments on Flip Wilson's popular early '70s variety show, a cameo on The Muppet Show, and an appearance on the NBC proto-reality show Real People. Since quite a few videos of his appearances were uploaded onto YouTube, this allowed him to regain some of his cred.🏁
